Palace in Przegaliny Duże
In Przegaliny, there is a 19th-century palace surrounded by a landscape park, built by Władysław Szaniawski, lord of Przegalin, engineer by training, astronomer by passion. In his residence he has built an observatory (1911), which was at the time one of the largest in Europe.
Szaniawski carried out his observations with the use of a 9-inch telescope placed in a special dome on the roof of his palace in Przegaliny. He had also run a weather station in constant contact with the Meteorological Institute. In 1943 the palace has burned down, and was rebuilt in 1959.
