Sacred Pole in Radzyń Podlaski
In Radzyń, right next to the northern fence of the palace-park complex (Międzyrzecka St.), almost on the axis of the palace, is a brick pole called sacral. It is 350 cm high, and has a girth of 290 cm. It is still unknown when and why it was erected. One of the hypotheses claims it to have been a landmark (indicating the border between estates). Another assigns it votive meaning and associates it with great cholera epidemics that haunted Podlasie and northern parts of Lubelszczyzna in 1838 and 1883.
